What is TrashOut?

TrashOut is an environmental project aiming to locate illegal dumps all around the world. We are developing a solution to take proper steps to illegal dumps. It helps ordinary people to have impact on their environment and to be easily involved. This project will also help local institutions and governments to improve the situation in the world.

What is our vision?

Our vision is to make the planet better place to live in. We want to change mindset of people so they will stop polluting our planet by illegal dumping.With easy to use and free application you can start reporting, confirming and cleaning illegal dumps. We hope people will be able to realize that our planet is the only one and it needs our help to stay clean and healthy for next generations.

Why did we start TrashOut?

Illegal dumps are a serious problem. We have had an idea, that maybe if people possess really easy tool for participation, then they will do it. Therefore we started a project called TrashOut. We believe there are many enviro-friendly people who may find this project useful. We hope the TrashOut will make a difference.

How to use TrashOut?

First of all download TrashOut app to your cell phone. When you find an illegal dump just start the TrashOut app report it easily with just few clicks. Your photo shall not display other people, car registration number or any personal information. Please focus on illegal dumps only. Otherwise picture can be rejected or partly blurred. If you see the illegal dump, which has already been reported, you can confirm it. By confirming this illegal dump you let others know, that the dump is still there. You can even approach local authority or other organizations to take proper steps and clean it. Of course, you are free to organize your friends and clean it by yourselves. And do not forget to share it on Facebook or Twitter .

Can I help?

Of course! You are more than welcome :) There are several ways how you can participate on the TrashOut project. First of all download TrashOut app and report/confirm illegal dumps in your region. Do not forget to share it on Facebook , Twitter or Google+ . Second way is to approach local authorities and organizations and tell them "Hey guys check this illegal dump; it is in our region could you please do something about it?" Or you can take this matter into your own hands and organize a cleaning event, invite friends and clean it. Last but not least way is to become our partner or supporter . Donate few bucks and help us to keep the project existing and even improving it.

Can I contact the reporter of illegal trash?

[in near future] Yes, you can use TrashOut mailbox, when you have signed in, and send him a direct message. You can also leave a comment on the bottom of the illegal dump report.

And who will clean all reported illegal dumps?

Well, we would like to see as many organizations, individuals and local authorities involved in cleaning as possible. We are really happy that there are some environmental organizations really helping the world. We are continuously trying to approach and build partnership with them. There are two most common solutions

• Local authorities or environmental organizations from your region sometimes do not know where an illegal dump is, so they can not clean it. TrashOut will approach them and let them know. But you know the world is huge, so we would appreciate your help. Share it, email them, be proactive and start communication.

• Be the one who leads the change. Create an event, invite friends, share it on Facebook or Twitter and organize others. Or at least join cleaning event, which has already been scheduled. Do not forget about safety, take gloves, bags and shovels.

If I want to clean the illegal dump, how can I do it?

That`s great! Just go there and do it :) But, don`t forget = SAFETY first! Take gloves, bags, a shovel and other necessary tools

How do badges work?

For every report, cleaning or confirmation of illegal dump you gain points. Points are counted and when you reach some amount you will get certain badge. Badges are divided into three categories and you can collect them:

• Reporting badges - for people who are always on the way and report illegal dumps everywhere they go

• Geocaching badges - for people who like going somewhere due to a purpose and travel a lot as well. You get these badges when you confirm existing illegal dump in certain location

• Cleaning badges - for people who can`t stand that illegal dumps exist in their neighborhood, town or state. For cleaning illegal dumps you can get the most valuable badges.

What is TrashMap?

TrashMap is a map with reported illegal dumps all around the world. TrashMap is based on Google maps, so it offers you very comfortable way to search, browse and filter results. Blue markers represent your reports, red ones reports of others and green ones the illegal dumps that have already been cleaned.

How to use the TrashMap?

Well, you can filter illegal dumps by region, type of trash, size or date. Also you can use search box to enter specific keyword as the name of your city, country, etc. Everything else is like well-known Google map :)

In your profile, after you sign in, you may check whether your report was successfully processed or if it was marked as spam. Otherwise your report should be available in next 24 hours on TrashMap .

Who checks all reports and confirmations?

All reports and confirmation are checked by us because we are trying to avoid publishing spam on TrashMap . But if you find some report which is incorrect or looks like spam you can inform us as well (via spam button under picture), we are only humans :).

Does TrashOut work on my mobile?

TrashOut works on iPhone, on Android and on Windows Phone . You can download if from Appstore or Marketplace. If you don`t have such phone, you can still use many functions via web. Checkout our map of illegal dump called TrashMap and give it a try. But stay tuned we will add another mobile platforms. Let us know which platform you are using, so we can focus on the most popular ones.

Is TrashOut app for free?

Yes! TrashOut app is free and always will be.

Photo is loading too long.

We are trying to optimize all photos to load quickly even on slow internet. If your photo is loading too long, check if your internet connection is available. You can check speed of your internet here www.speedtest.net

It isn`t responsive enough.

We are working on application all day and night to make it friendlier, easier and faster. Unfortunately, it is not always possible, we are only humans, too. Because of that we would be glad if you send us feedback via button on left side of our page.

What can I do in settings?

You can set many things there. Modify email notifications, connect your TrashOut with social networks, edit your basic info, change password, edit privacy settings and so on. Sign in and explore it.
